Bikur Cholim literally means “visiting the ill.”

This is only one of the many functions that the Bikur Cholim of North Miami Beach does on a daily basis. Our volunteers, men and women “visit” Jewish patients in hospitals, nursing homes, in their homes, as well as over the telephone. These volunteers help provide transportation to and from doctors offices, rehabilitation programs, various therapies, help with grocery shopping and meal preparation, as well as paid meals whenever necessary. Funds are raised so that necessary medical attention, prescriptions, nursing care, and home healthcare can be provided, as well as helping families meet financial needs occasioned by illness resulting in loss of income and uncovered bills.
